ABU DHABI // A du employee is on trial at the Federal Supreme Court for giving out confidential information to foreign agents.

A K, from Pakistan, is accused of giving out private information belonging to the Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company.

The 33-year-old allegedly handed the information to people working for the Indian and Pakistan governments.

“The accused has used IT tools to uncover and have access to information pertaining to her employer, the Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company. She used her workplace to access the information and submit it to foreign agents working for the governments of India and Pakistan,” said prosecution documents.

A K denied any wrongdoing and pleaded not guilty. She is being tried under the UAE’s Cybercrime Law No 5 of 2012 which criminalises electronic misuse.

The case was adjourned to February 8.
