DUBAI // Two men and a woman have appeared in court charged with possessing more than three kilograms of heroin.
Dubai Criminal Court heard that drivers M S, 40, A D, 34 and F S, 32, a housemaid, all Sri Lankans, were arrested in June after police were tipped off about their activities.
A L, 34, a narcotics officer with Dubai police, said after the arrest he found the drugs hidden in A D’s lorry.
“They confessed to possessing 3.2kg of heroin and said they were sending it to Kuwait,” he said.
He added police also found 1,000 Kuwaiti dinars, weighing scales and plastic bags in F S’s home in Sharjah.
“She told me she gave the drugs to the other defendants and that she knew it was heroin. She also told me she was in contact with a man from outside the country who was directing her where to go and whom to give the drugs to,” testified A L.
In court on Sunday, the men confessed to possession of drugs but denied they wanted to sell it, while F S denied the charge.
The next hearing will be on November 15.
