The under secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said an Emirati diplomat was detained on Monday evening at New Delhi Airport by Indian Customs.
The diplomat was held for 12 hours on charges of smuggling gold in breach of Indian law, the state news agency Wam said.
