DUBAI // The Dar Al Ber Society has built a new camp for displaced Syrians in the Shebaa Farms area of Lebanon as it continues its weekly humanitarian relief aid to refugees affected by severe cold as part of the UAE Compassion (Tarahamu) campaign.

The society has contributed Dh1 million to the UAE Red Crescent Authority and Dh1.6m via the Ishraq Al Noor Charity Society in Lebanon to buy medicines, blankets, clothes, foodstuffs, nappies and milk.

More than 3,000 families have benefited from its contributions, which include 18,000 litres of fuel, 40 tonnes of potatoes, 7,800 bread packets, 3,400 bottles of milk, 700 pairs of anti-water and snow shoes for children, 500 heavy winter blankets, 1,000 nappies and 400 pairs of winter socks.

“Relief materials delivered to the Shebaa camp spanned nine tonnes of potatoes for 700 families and clothes for 1,000 children, let alone foodstuffs and personal items to ease the suffering of Syrian refugees during the tough winter,” said Abdullah Ali bin Zayed, executive director of the Dar Al Ber Society.
