Crown Prince to pay blind girls' tuition fees

Two blind pupils will have their tuition fees paid by Ajman's Crown Prince, in recognition of their excellent results despite their disability.

AJMAN // Two blind Grade 12 pupils who overcame their disabilities to take high honours in nationwide examinations will have their tuition fees paid by Ajman's Crown Prince. Mais Hamoodah scored 98.6 per cent in the art section of her final-year exams, making her the top student in the emirate in the subject and the fourth highest in the UAE. Imtithal Khidir, her schoolmate at Al Hikmah private school, scored 96.3 per cent in the same subject, the seventh best in the emirate.

The results come as final-year students across the country get the results of their exams, revamped to place a higher priority on analytical skills. Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid, the Crown Prince of Ajman, met the two girls yesterday, according to the state news agency WAM, praising their achievements and pledging to pay their tuition fees. [e-mail]
