Woman who prostituted herself 'to support her daughter' is jailed in Dubai

The woman had a child out of wedlock with a man who allegedly abandoned them both.

A woman who said she worked as a prostitute for two years to support her 4-year-old daughter will spend three months in jail.

The Saudi Arabian woman said she had an illegal affair with an Iranian man who abandoned her after she gave birth to their child.

“I gave birth in a hotel apartment with the help of an Iranian woman who I don’t remember now,” the 41-year-old said.

She then moved to Ajman and began working as a prostitute to care for herself and her daughter, who is now 4-years-old.

She was arrested in Dubai on March 7 this year after being involved in a fight.

It was then that police investigators discovered she was prostituting herself.

Records show that the woman lived with a 32-year-old Syrian man who would care for her daughter while she was out with customers.

“I know her since two years and I was aware of her work. Three months before the arrest, she started paying me to take care of the girl,” he told the court.

Ajman Police arrested the man and seized the child outside the woman's apartment building in Ajman before handing them over to Dubai Police.
The Syrian man and the Saudi woman are facing a charge of inciting sin for living together.

Dubai Court of Misdemeanours charged the woman with having consensual sex out of wedlock with the Iranian man - who is at large - and another charge of having a child outside of wedlock.
She was convicted of prostitution by Dubai Criminal Court and sentenced to three months in jail followed by deportation.
She was not in court to enter a plea.
