Woman molested in lift, court told

But defendant's lawyer said he 'accidentally' touched her breast because he was dizzy from working out.

DUBAI // A 36-year-old engineer molested a 44-year-old housewife in the lift of her building, a Dubai Court heard today.

The Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance charged, MA, 36, from India, with grabbing the woman's breast.

The woman her sister-in-law and daughters were all in the lift with MA when it stopped on the first floor, records show. When the door opened, she put her hand on the doors to let MA out, but instead of exiting, he groped her, records show.

"When he came towards me, I told him, 'Are you crazy?'" she told police.

She and her family members began screaming and got out of the elevator. MA continued in the lift.

The woman said she found MA in the building's lobby.

MA's lawyer, however, said today in court that his client did not intend to molest her. He said MA may have accidentally touched her breast because he was dizzy and semi-conscious because he had overworked during a gym session.

A verdict is expected in this month.
