A hair stylist offered a female friend a lift home from the beach before taking her to his apartment to rape her, a court heard.

The Egyptian man, 37, befriended the woman on social media three months before allegedly carrying out the attack.

The worker and a male colleague, 35, from Syria, picked the woman and her friend up from Jumeirah Beach, Dubai, in the early hours of June 19.

The men instead asked the Filipino women to join them at a party at their apartment.

When they arrived at the Sheikh Zayed Road address, the Egyptian man is said to have dragged his online friend into his bedroom and raped her.

“I resisted him then begged him but he wouldn’t stop and he choked me when I tried to run out of the room,” said the woman, 29.

The co-accused then sexually assaulted the second woman, Dubai Criminal Court was told.

The women said the men offered to give them cash after subjecting them to the ordeal.

They refused and, after being allowed to leave the apartment, called police.

Officers arrived at the home of the men and arrested them.

Both defendants denied charges of rape and sexual assault when they appeared at court.

The case was adjourned until October 6.
