Abu Dhabi // Three men arrested after being caught making a Dh250,000 drug deal say their confessions were made under duress, the Criminal Court heard.

FM, a Yemeni, AA, a Saudi, and AM, an Emirati denied the charges, saying they were selling the officers some clothes.

Their lawyers also alleged they had been beaten in prison and that blood was found on their prison clothes.

“What kind of clothes cost Dh250,000?” the public prosecutor asked on Sunday.

The trio were in the car after FM allegedly made a deal with police to meet in Baniyas park. He went down to the undercover car and made the exchange, the court heard. Once back in the car with the other two, they started counting the money and that’s when police arrested them.

AA’s lawyer said her client only happened to be the friend of FM and there is no evidence that he was involved.

“How can he only be his friend, when the secret agents spoke to FM and he told them ‘I’m coming with my partner and he is with me in the car’,” argued the prosecutor.

AM’s lawyer also made the same argument.

AM said he was only giving the other two directions to the park.

A verdict is expected to be announced on June 29.
