A man has been sentenced to six months in prison for attempting to board a flight from Dubai to Germany using a fake British passport.

The Pakistani, 20, was arrested on December 28 last year after immigration officers spotted the forged papers.

Dubai Criminal Court heard how the first page of the passport was completely replaced with one carrying the man's information and picture.

A German visa stamp and a Dubai entry and exit visa were also faked, the court was told.

Appearing in court this month, the man denied charges of forgery. On Sunday he was convicted and will be deported after serving his sentence.
