Pair who attacked teen dating their relative jailed by Dubai court

Two students who fractured the skull of a boy dating one of their relatives are sentenced to three months in jail.

DUBAI // Two students who assaulted and fractured the skull of a boy who was dating one of their relatives were today each sentenced by the Criminal Court to three months in prison.

AA and AH, both 20-year-olds from Sudan, approached their compatriot AM, 17, while he was sitting with his girlfriend at a restaurant at Festival City.

The teenager said that one of the men told him he was the girlfriend's uncle and asked him to go to the car park so they could "have words".

When he accompanied the man to the car park he saw seven other men. Two of the men - AA and AH - then beat him to the ground and he lost consciousness.

Security guards rescued him and he was taken to Rashid Hospital where he was found to have a fractured skull. The attack left him with permanent damage.

The teenager's girlfriend told him that one of the men who assaulted him was her half brother.

In court one of the students, AA, denied assault, while the other, AH, confessed. The court found both guilty of assault.
