Man used fake passports to obtain SIM cards

DUBAI // A man was sentenced this morning to six months in prison for using copies of a forged passport to deceive Emarat Telecom into issuing him post-paid SIM cards.

OS, 28, from Pakistan confessed to the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance that he had created the forgeries by placing his photograph on top of the original picture. But he denied trying to swindle

Emarat Telecoms on October 14, 2010.

His accomplice MA, 55, also from Pakistan, who was accused of aiding OS, was acquitted.

According to records, OS was arrested after a tip to police that he carried three different passports with three different names.

Prosecutors said he sold the SIM cards. He will be deported after serving his prison term.
