Man accused of stealing cigarettes and energy drinks worth Dh214,000

The products were the property of the UAE’s Federal Tax Authority

A worker has been accused of stealing cigarettes and Red Bull energy drinks worth hundreds of thousands of dirhams.

Dubai Criminal Court was told the products, owned by the UAE Federal Tax Authority, were stolen from a warehouse in Ras Al Khor.

The court heard the Pakistani man, 33, and another defendant – who remains at large – broke into the building on June 27.

“We found fingerprints at the crime scene,” an Emirati policeman said. Officers arrested the man days later.

Judges were told 30 boxes containing Marlboro and Royal cigarettes and 15 boxes of Red Bull energy drinks worth Dh214,000 were stolen

The defendant was charged with armed robbery, which he denied in court.

A verdict will be issued on October 18.
