DUBAI // A driving instructor told a Dubai court this morning that he did not rape a maid who was staying at his apartment while she waited for her passport to be renewed.
Prosecutors said MJ, 34, from Pakistan, sneaked into his living room, where the victim was sleeping, covered her mouth and raped her.
According to records at the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance, the Filipina victim, 31, was taken to an office in Ajman by her Emirati sponsor to have her passport renewed.
She spent the night at the house of MJ and his wife there, with visa procedures planned for the next day, records show.
At 3.30am on June 9, 2010, the victim said in her testimony in court records, MJ came to the living room and woke her up after covering her mouth with his hand to keep her silent.
She said he threatened to deport her if she did not have sex with him, records show. MJ then raped her as she stayed silent, afraid to scream, records show.
The suspect has allegedly washed himself and went to bed, prosecutors said.
The next morning the victim was taken to her consulate where her passport was renewed and she returned to her sponsor's house in Dubai, prosecutors said.
The victim told her sponsor's wife what had happened on July 11, and the wife told her husband, who took the maid to a hospital, where it was discovered she was pregnant, records show.
The next hearing was scheduled for March 16.
