Girl, 6, molested by toilet cleaner, Dubai court told

DUBAI // A six-year-old girl who visited a restaurant toilet to check on her wobbly tooth was molested by the cleaner, a court heard today.

Prosecutors said the attack happened on May 25 this year when the girl's family were eating at a restaurant in Jumeirah. The girl excused herself from the table and her father walked her to the toilet so she could check on her tooth.

Five minutes later he asked his wife to check on the girl and as she went to do so the girl returned looking very pale.

"I asked her if she managed to see her tooth but she said no because the mirror was too high and then I heard her whispering to her mother that a man at the toilet touched her private area," recalled the father, 37, from Jordan.

The father then checked the toilet and found the cleaner. The girl identified him as the man who carried out the attack and the father informed police.

DNA samples taken from the girl matched those of the cleaner.

The Criminal Court charged AA, 27, from Bangladesh, with forceful sexual assault of a minor. He denied the charge, claiming he entered the toilet only to clean.

A verdict was scheduled for July 31.
