Duo fined for causing accident that ripped off Dubai labourer's arm

A labourer's arm was ripped off when a colleague turned on the cement mixer he was cleaning, Dubai Misdemeanours Court heard last week.

AA, 35, from India, had asked MJ, 25, from Pakistan, to switch on a different mixer, but the Pakistani became confused and turned on the wrong machine.

The Indian's right arm was ripped off. The accident happened at Dubai Investment Park on May 5 last year.

The Pakistani labourer and HF, a safety supervisor, were convicted of mistakenly causing a permanent disability to a co-worker and each fined Dh3,000.
