DUBAI // Two beauticians caught kissing at work were yesterday cleared of public indecency.
Hairstylist, MK 27, from Jordan, kissed his female colleague OK, also 27, from Moldova, on the cheek to wish her happy birthday.
But a colleague who saw the kiss informed their manager, who dismissed them and reported them to police.
The colleague, MH, 40, from Jordan, told the Misdemeanours Court that the kiss, on January 7, was on the lips, not as the pair claimed on the cheek.
He also claimed the pair were in love and planning to get married and that they had previously been warned about such behaviour.
But in court the hairstylist insisted the kiss was innocent.
"It was her birthday and when I arrived at the beauty centre and saw her, I kissed her on the cheek and wished her a happy birthday," the hair stylist testified.
He said the case was malicious, claiming the beauty parlour was trying to get back at him for filing a labour complaint over unpaid salary.
