ABU DHABI // An inheritance case involving 115 people has been settled at the Civil Appeals Court.
The case, which started more than two years ago, involves the heirs of four brothers who owned a commercial building.
One heir wanted to sell his share in the building, but the others refused to sell.
The case kept being delayed as various interested parties passed away. With each death new heirs became involved in the lawsuit until the number had swelled to 115.
The First Instance Court ruled the building should be sold in a public auction, but the heirs rejected the verdict and appealed.
A breakthrough happened at the Civil Appeals Court when one of the heirs offered to buy out the person who wanted to sell, offering him Dh1 million. He agreed and the money was paid in court.
