Corporal molested woman he met on Facebook in his car, Dubai court hears

Emirati chatted to Filipina for 10 days on Facebook and Blackberry Messenger before he allegedly sexually assaulted her and said he would kill her.

DUBAI // A corporal molested a woman in his car and told her he would kill her after the pair met on Facebook, a court heard on Thursday.

Emirati S A, 26, is accused of attacking Filipina K B, 25, in his Nissan Patrol on November 10 last year after they had met on the social-media website 10 days earlier and then chatted on BlackBerry Messenger.

Their first meeting in person was in a mall car park. K B said: “I agreed to meet him in a mall in Deira at 6.30pm. I saw him in his Nissan Patrol car in the parking lot adjacent to a gym near the mall.

“I asked him about his plans and he answered that he is going to drive around the area, and asked me if I would like to join him.”

Prosecution records say they drove around for an hour before the defendant parked near a hotel.

“He put the car sun protectors on the front window and, without notice, he kissed me on the lips,” the Filipina said. “I told him to stop but he put his hand on my chest, then he pulled off my T-shirt and placed his hand inside. I started screaming and pushed his hand away.

“The defendant leaned over me and lowered the back of my seat and laid on top of me and started to molest me. He put his hand on my mouth to stop me from screaming.”

Prosecutors said that the corporal, whose employer was not revealed, then threatened her in English, saying “shut up or I will kill you”, and putting one of his hands in a choking position while continuing to fondle her.

The victim snatched her mobile phone, which was in between the front seats, and tried to call police but the defendant hit her on her hand, causing the phone to fall.

“I managed to jump to the driver’s chair and pressed the car horn,” she said. “I then opened the door and ran from the car. The defendant took off with my handbag and mobile phone inside the car.”

Emirati policeman A A, 32, said: “We identified the defendant after we got the report and called him in for questioning. He said that he asked K B to have sex with him, the victim agreed and lowered her clothes.

“He said: ‘Once I tried to lay on her, she said no. I offered her money and she didn’t take it. I then opened the passenger door and pushed her out of the car and left’.”

The police found the victim’s bag in the defendant’s car, along with her other belongings.

At Dubai Criminal Court, the Emirati denied the charge of sexual assault and issuing threats. He told the judge that the victim offered herself to him and he refused her advances, so he let her out of the car.

The next hearing is on June 19.
