This Friday, March 6th, Dubai’s Photography Festival will open its 11th edition with GPP2015. If you’re unfamiliar with Gulf Photo Plus and the annual festival, which runs for 8 days, and it’s launch day, Photo Friday, allow me to bring you up to speed.
Once a year GPP brings together key industry leaders and rising stars of photography to share their knowledge and passion for their craft with participants in the form of workshops, lectures, and special events. Returning photographers Lindsay Adler, Zack Arias, RC Concepcion, Joel Grimes, David Hobby, Peter Hurley, Sara Lando, Joe McNally and David Nightingale have been presenting to sell out crowds for several years now with workshops and seminars on a wide range of topics.
New to the mix this year are photographers Ryan Brenizer, Drew Gurian, Ed Kashi, Mike Kelley, and Laura El-Tantawy. The diversity within this group of photographers (which you can see in the accompanying photos) allows for a broad range of workshops to be offered, with everything from landscapes to studio portraits, editorial photography to architectural photography, digital workflows to website design and promotion, and much more. On Photo Friday, 16 ninety-minute sessions spread out over 4 time slots throughout the day give participants a taste of what the longer workshops will offer.
During breaks in the sessions participants can also check out products and services at the trade show on site.
Here's a schedule of events.
Starting on Saturday, March 7th, one to three day long workshops begin with the instructors allowing in-depth, hands-on instruction on a series of topics.
Here's a list of the workshops at the festival.
GPP2015 is a unique festival and we’re very lucky to have it happen annually right here in the UAE. Thanks to the team at Gulf Photo Plus who work tirelessly to organize and run the event everyone in the photography community in the region benefits. If you love photography, I encourage you to come out to GPP2015.
I hope to see you there.
