Clothes shop worker gets two years at Dubai court for groping seven-year-old girl

The 33-year-old Bangladeshi man first tried to lure the girl's younger sister before taking the Lebanese seven-year-old into a quiet corner of the shop and molesting her.

DUBAI // A worker groped a seven-year-old girl when he lured her into a corner of a clothes shop with a toy – just a little while after unsuccessfully trying the same with her younger sister. Bangladeshi M A, 33, touched the Lebanese girl inappropriately at the shop in Al Muraqqabat after first trying to lure the girl’s younger sister, Dubai Criminal Court heard.

The girls’ father said that he was shopping with his wife and two daughters on May 9 when the incident occurred.

“I could see my daughters most of the time near us but then one of them came to me and said that a worker at the shop had showed her a toy and lured her into an empty corner then molested her,” said father N K.

He added that the man tried to lure his six-year-old but failed before taking the older daughter to an unseen corner of the shop.

Records show that M A, who denied molestation, hugged the girl and touched her inappropriately.

The man, who was sentenced to two years in jail to be followed by deportation, was arrested the following month after a shop employee called police and said he had returned for the first time since the incident.
