DUBAI // Two men who stabbed to death a visitor to a brothel they owned because he was harassing their prostitutes were each sentenced to three years in jail.

The Vietnamese men, both aged 32, were convicted of murder and facilitating prostitution.

Three Pakistanis, aged 20, 23 and 28, were found guilty of assaulting the Vietnamese men and were sentenced to two months in jail and a fine of Dh1,000 each.

At 5pm on July 6 last year, police received a report of a fight at the Moroccan Cluster in International City.

“When we arrived we found the body of a Pakistani man near the emergency exit, a bloodied knife was near by and the three Pakistani defendants were there. One of them had been stabbed in the leg,” a 30-year-old Emirati police officer said.

He said the Pakistanis told him they had gone to a brothel with their friend, who was assaulted by two Vietnamese men.

“They said the Vietnamese men came out of the brothel armed with knives and engaged in a fight. They assaulted them before attacking the victim and stabbing him repeatedly,” the officer said.

The Vietnamese men managed to escape but police identified them using security camera footage from the area. They were arrested the next day in Al Mutainah.

Police said they confessed to stabbing the victim to death and injuring another in the leg.

“They said that they were assaulted first by the Pakistanis,” the officer said.

All five men will be deported after serving their prison terms.
