British Airways cancels a Dubai flight

The travel plans of hundreds of UAE passengers were disrupted yesterday as British Airways cabin crew went on strike for a second day. The Dubai-bound flight BA105, which carries up to 195 passengers, was cancelled, and flights that went ahead as scheduled were said to be only partly full as many people made alternative plans. The airline said it contacted passengers whose flights were affected "and they have either been rebooked for future dates, rerouted, booked on other airlines or refunded".

David Willrich, 51, flew back to Britain on Saturday night after visiting Abu Dhabi for a business trip. He said BA kept him abreast of his flight's status. "I don't hold the airline responsible at all," he said. "It is disappointing that their union can't see that things need to change. Both of the Emirates' airlines offer an arguably higher standard of service in some aspects for less money in the premium classes with crews that cost them less."
