Boy drowns in Sharjah swimming pool after 'sneaking out of family flat'

A boy has drowned in the swimming pool of residential building in Sharjah where he lived with his family.

Police said the Pakistani boy, 8, had snuck out of the family's flat in Al Khan to swim in the pool at around 7pm on Saturday.

After noticing he was missing, his family searched for him only to find the boy unconscious in the pool.

Paramedics tried to resuscitate the boy in an ambulance to Al Qasimi Hospital but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

An investigation into the circumstances of the boy's death are under way.
