SHARJAH // Police have recovered the body of an Indian man who drowned on Friday morning while swimming at Sharjah beach in the Al Khan area.
The man, identified as Sunil Kumar, 40, who worked at an insurance company, drowned after bad weather and high tides pulled him away from the shore, police said.
He had gone swimming with friends who contacted emergency services after Mr Kumar got into trouble in the water. His body was found on Sunday. His family have been notified.
Police are urging beachgoers to check that conditions are safe before entering the water. They should also check for warning flags placed along beaches and avoid swimming too far from the shore.
