The body of the 18-year-old Indian teenager who was swept away by floods in Khor Fakkan last week was found in Madha Dam in Oman on Wednesday.

Sharjah Police said the body was found, after seven days of continuous searching, 20km from Wadi Chees, where he first went missing on November 16.

“A rescue team of 75 members were able to find the missing person in Madha Dam in Oman, in collaboration with the Omani authorities,” said Lt Col Walid Al Yamahi, Director of Khor Fakkan Police

The body was transferred to Khor Fakkan hospital.

The teenager was one of five others travelling in a Mitsubishi Pajero across Wadi Chees in Fujairah when they were caught in a flash flood caused by heavy rain.

The five others were rescued by an Emirati passer-by, Khalifa Al Naqbi, who said the teenager refused to leave the car because it belonged to his father.

Police teams from Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi Air Wing took part in the search.
