A Japanese jewellery designer named Miwako Yanagisawa debuted her falcon hoods at the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition this year. Her gold-plated creations are set with dazzling gemstones — but will UAE falcon-owners seriously consider splurging on glorified falcon hats?

Some probably will. Having endless funds at your disposal, after all, can get tiresome. After decking out your home with rare and ostentatious decor, splurging on customising your flashy vehicles and dressing your children in logo-adorned shoes, how do you spend your leftover money?

Yanagisawa’s falcon headpieces cost up to Dh60,000. But perhaps these fashion offerings lose their magic when they become mainstream, mass-market pieces. A gold-plated emerald-, sapphire-, diamond- and tourmarine-studded hood worn by your falcon however, will be a far more remarkable investment.
