An apartment block in Ajman was evacuated after a fire broke out on the sixth floor.
Fire crews were called out to tackle the blaze at the 12-storey residential building in the Liwara 2 district of the emirate on Saturday.
There were no casualties and the fire was brought under control within two hours, a senior civil defence official said.
Brigadier Abdulaziz Ali Al Shamsi said the fire was reported at about noon and was extinguished with the support of firefighters from Sharjah Civil Defence and four fire stations in Ajman.
“The fire started in an apartment in the sixth floor then spread to the flats nearby, but only in the back side of the building,” he said.
The cause is under investigation.
