Al Ain Municipality allocated around 872 plots of residential, commercial and agricultural land to Emiratis last year as well as issuing 6,419 property titles.
Also in 2014, the municipality constructed 20 new dual main roads, marking a 60 per cent increase on the previous year. It also added 10,000 new parking spaces and 59 spots for disabled motorists as well as 1,500 road bumps.
The municipality added 280,000 metres of sidewalks for pedestrians, as well as 34,000 meters of cycle paths to encourage city residents to take up the sport.
Maintenance work was completed on 5 bridges in addition to building 11 new roundabouts, reported Al Ittihad, the Arabic language sister paper of The National.
