AJMAN // A sponge factory in Al Jurf was destroyed in a fire on Tuesday morning.
Ajman Civil Defence was alerted to the blaze just before 8am, with crews from three stations bringing the fire under control in around 20 minutes, said Col Nasir Al Zari, director of public relations.
Col Al Zari urged factory and warehouse owners to maintain fire alarm systems and have extinguishers on hand in case of emergency.
He also stressed the importance of ensuring the safety of electrical systems, especially during summer.
An investigation is under way into the cause of the fire.
