ABU DHABI // Police have foiled an attempt to smuggle a million captagon pills through the UAE to Saudi Arabia.
The two Arab suspects, a UAE resident and a visitor, were operating between Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah and had been under surveillance after a tip from Saudi authorities, Abu Dhabi Police said.
Col Rashid Bourshid, head of CID at Abu Dhabi Police, commended the collaboration with the Ministry of Interior anti-narcotics division, reported Aletihad, the Arabic-language sister paper of The National.
He said police are equipped to thwart any attempted crime that might be harmful to society, particularly to youth.
