ABU DHABI // Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, met with King Salman at the weekend to discuss the latest developments in the region.

The meeting took place in Riyadh with other GCC officials, including Prince Mohammed bin Nayef, Saudi’s Deputy Crown Prince, Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince of Bahrain, Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser Al Thani, Prime Minister of Qatar, and Sheikh Mohammad Al Khalid Al Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister of Kuwait, the state news agency Wam reported.

One of the main topics of conversation was the conflict in Yemen. GCC leaders reiterated their backing of president Abdrabu Mansur Hadi as leader of Yemen, expressing their willingness to aid the country’s journey back to stability – something integral to the GCC’s security.

They also supported president Hadi’s call for a conference in Riyadh, to include all the political parties in Yemen as well as GCC members.

Sheikh Mohammed was greeted by Prince Mohammed bin Nayef, also Minister of Interior, and Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz, Minister of Defence.

King Salman took guests on a tour of Al Auja Palace where they were shown photos of the late King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and artefacts.
