Abu Dhabi traffic licensing authorities and Adnoc are considering the introduction of operating repair bays round-the-clock at car checkup stations to ease crowding, especially during the early days of each month when motorists flock to renew their vehicle registrations.
Col Suheil Al Khaili, head of the vehicles and drivers' licensing department at Abu Dhabi Police, confirmed that a meeting had been convened with Adnoc officials to discuss initiating the new service at Abu Dhabi City's main car checkup station on Muroor Road, reported Al Ittihad, the Arabic-language sister paper of The National.
Due to rapid demographic growth, the number of licensed vehicles in the emirate has almost doubled over the past few years, standing now at around 830,000, Col Al Khaili said.
