Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, on Tuesday visited Abu Dhabi's Unmanned Systems Exhibition and Conference (Umex).
Sheikh Mohamed visited several stands that were showcasing some of the most advanced drone technology in the world.
About 160 companies from 63 countries are displaying their products at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.
“Today I visited the Umex and Simtex exhibitions in Abu Dhabi and was briefed on the latest innovations in unmanned systems technology, robotics and AI for the civil and defence sectors,” said Sheikh Mohamed on social media.
The UAE's Ministry of Defence signed three deals worth more than Dh966 million on the second day of the conference.
On the first day, three deals were signed worth more than Dh650m.
Among the main exhibitors is Abu Dhabi-based Edge, a conglomerate of two dozen defence companies.

How to apply for a drone permit
- Individuals must register on UAE Drone app or website using their UAE Pass
- Add all their personal details, including name, nationality, passport number, Emiratis ID, email and phone number
- Upload the training certificate from a centre accredited by the GCAA
- Submit their request
What are the regulations?
- Fly it within visual line of sight
- Never over populated areas
- Ensure maximum flying height of 400 feet (122 metres) above ground level is not crossed
- Users must avoid flying over restricted areas listed on the UAE Drone app
- Only fly the drone during the day, and never at night
