Amid a rise in new Covid-19 cases, Croatia and Montenegro are attempting to save their summer tourist season by introducing new restrictions.
Croatia has limited gatherings to up to 50 people, if unvaccinated, while larger events of up to 1,000 people can go ahead if all attendees are able to show proof they are vaccinated or have a negative PCR test.
Covid-19 cases in Croatia have spiked by a third in the past week, largely attributed to the Delta variant. “I am convinced that with small corrections in our lives, we can achieve good results this season,” Interior Minister Davor Bozinovic said.
Croatia has also tightened restrictions for visitors arriving from the UK, Russia and Cyprus, although only visitors from South Africa, Brazil, India and Zanzibar are still required to quarantine upon arrival in Croatia.
Visitors from other countries must present a vaccination certificate that is no more than 270 days old, a negative PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before travel, or confirmation that they have recovered from the virus.
Meanwhile, Montenegro has temporarily closed all nightclubs. Authorities say they plan to allow them to reopen on Monday, but only to those who are vaccinated or can prove that they have recovered from Covid-19.
UAE travellers are currently allowed to enter Montenegro with no restrictions.
