DURBAN // Arjen Robben believes Holland are to still find top form despite reaching the quarter-finals. They defeated Slovakia 2-1 last night, but Robben, who scored the Dutch side's opener, is confident there is even more to come. "We did not play our best but in the end it is about winning and going through. Hopefully we will save our best match for when it is needed," he said. "We were favourites to win today but it does not mean you win the game. We can relax now, we have done our job."
This is Holland's best run in the competition since they reached the semi-finals in 1998, and Robben said he and his teammates are focused on pushing on. "In the past, people would say the Dutch play nice football but never win," he said. "We know that and want to improve on that. "In the past two tournaments we were in a strong group and went through, everyone was happy but then we lost the next game. We have improved on that already - it was not the best but it was efficient."
For Slovakia it was a case of reflecting on what might have been. Vladimir Weiss, the Slovakian coach, said: "That's no disgrace to us. Nevertheless we had chances to score the equaliser throughout the game, but we never took them. "We have done well. The players have shown a great mentality. The win over Italy in the group stage was an absolute highlight for us." sports@thenational.aes
