Savio Nsereko has swapped the challenge of promotion to Serie A for England's Premier League after agreeing a move from Brescia to West Ham United on a four-and-a-half year contract. The Germany under-20 international is one of Europe's hottest properties and has caught the eye in Brescia's push for promotion from Italy's Serie B. Hammers boss Gianfranco Zola could even include Savio, 19, who has signed for an undisclosed fee, in his squad to face Hull City on Wednesday night if the forward is granted international clearance in time.
"We are delighted to sign Savio, particularly with the fierce competition for his services across Europe," the Upton Park chief executive Scott Duxbury told the club's official website. "He is an exciting prospect who Gianfranco Zola believes will prove a valuable asset for this club now and in the years to come. "It is a significant investment and shows our determination to continue moving this club forward."
Zola has been keen on bolstering his attacking options since reluctantly selling Craig Bellamy to Manchester City last week, and Savio's pace and ability to play wide or through the middle will provide the Italian coach with an extra option up front. *With Reuters
