The UAE's Mohammed Ahmed Gharib and Australia's Mathew Leckie make the cover of The National Sport on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 after the teams played out a 2018 World Cup qualifier in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.

Australia won the Group B encounter 1-0, thanks to a 75th-minute goal from Australia substitute Tim Cahill, who extended his national team record of goals to 48.

The defeat leaves the UAE fourth in Group B after two rounds, with Australia and Saudi Arabia joint top. Mahdi Ali’s side next host Thailand on October 6 and then face Saudi Arabia five days later.
