The Premier League runners-up put the most expensive English signing in history on display against AS Roma in Melbourne, an International Champions Cup pre-season tournament match. Sterling showed his talents with a goal in the 2-2 draw, which Man City won on penalties.
"He demonstrated why he's here," said City manager Manuel Pellegrini, "not only his value as a player. He's a very young player so I think he will improve a lot in the future, playing with Yaya Toure, David Silva and the others.
“I’m very happy with him and I’m very happy that we’ve bought him.”
