Al Ain will be the main beneficiary of an increase in race fixtures for the 2014/15 UAE racing season, which were released on Thursday.

The Emirates Racing Authority (ERA) released the calendar dates far sooner than in previous years.

Last season, the regulatory body did not announce the fixtures until late August.

“We have broken new ground in making this early announcement of dates for the new racing season,” said Malih Al Basti, ERA Board member and Chairman of the ERA Steering Committee.

“We are proud to host an exciting and quality-filled schedule of five months of horse racing in the UAE and look forward to welcoming all the horses and trainers that will contest our season.”

Al Ain, the UAE’s newest racecourse, will host eight meetings throughout the season that starts at Jebel Ali on October 31.

The change is an increase of three meetings from the inaugural 2013/14 season.

Overall there will be a total of 59 meetings across the five racecourses in the UAE, with Meydan Racecourse in Dubai leading the way with 19.

The Dubai World Cup Carnival programme, half of which will take place on dirt following Meydan's decision to remove the synthetic Tapeta surface, will commence on January 8.

The 20th Dubai World Cup, the first to be staged on dirt since 2009, will be held on March 28.

There will be 15 race nights at Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club.

Jebel Ali will take 11 fixtures and Sharjah just six days of racing.
