Manchester United

Sky Sports are reporting early Tuesday that Manchester United have put in a bid of £28.6 million (Dh165m) for Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos.

The report cites sources that “understand Ramos has told Madrid he wants to leave the club and join Louis van Gaal’s side”.

Madrid and United have been the subject of much talk this summer, with David de Gea being closely linked to a move to La Liga.

Ramos played 27 league matches for Real last season, and the defender briefly spent time in midfield in a largely failed experiment by Carlo Ancelotti when Toni Kroos was injured. Rumours have swirled for weeks that the 29-year-old Spain international is unhappy with his role at Madrid.

Tottenham Hotspur

Brazil midfielder Paulinho has signed for Chinese champions Guangzhou Evergrande for €14 million (Dh57.4m), the club said, the latest big-money transfer for the cash-rich Chinese Super League.

Paulinho, 26, signed from Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur is his former national team manager Luiz Felipe Scolari's first deal at the Guangdong outfit after taking over earlier this month.

“Paulinho has formally signed. The transfer fee is €14 million and it is for four years,” a statement posted on the club’s website Monday evening said.

Guangzhou are aiming to clinch a fifth successive league title this year, but sit third in the CSL behind leaders Beijing Guoan following a run in which they have won just once in four games.

Paulinho will line up alongside compatriot and CSL record-signing Ricardo Goulart, who joined Guangzhou for €15m in January.

Didier Drogba’s former club Shanghai Shenhua announced at the weekend that they had signed Senegal international and former Chelsea striker Demba Ba, without giving a fee.

Paulinho, who has been capped 32 times by Brazil, signed for Tottenham from Corinthians for £17m in 2013.

He played 45 times for the London club, scoring six goals.

Manchester City

Manchester City are exploring a move that could inject fresh legs into their back-line, with eyes on Monaco's 21-year-old right-back Fabinho, the Daily Mail are reporting.

The Brazilian made 36 Ligue 1 appearances for Monaco last season as part of a side that were largely considered strong in defence. The Principality club surprisingly reached the quarter-finals of the Uefa Champions League after ousting Arsenal in the last 16.

Fabinho played his youth football at Paulinia and Fluminense in Brazil before being sold to Portuguese club Rio Ave. He played at Real Madrid’s B side before another loan to Monaco, who permanently signed him just a couple months ago.

The Mail report states Monaco want around £15m for a player they signed at just £4m in May.
