The UAE fell to an unlucky late defeat to Iran in their final Asian Cup group game, resulting in the Emiratis finishing runners-up in Group C.

With little to separate the two sides, and the UAE enjoying more of the attacking intent, Iranian substitute Reza Ghoochannejhad headed home in the 91st minute to settle the tie.
