Nick Kyrgios goes on a rant again - this time at chair umpire and linesman during Queen's win

World No 39 will likely be fined after once again attracting attention for the wrong reasons on court

Nick Kyrgios is proving incapable of getting through an entire tournament without courting controversy.

The Australian is, in all likelihood, going to be fined following a series of outbursts during his straight sets win over Roberto Carballes Baena in the first round of the Fever-Tree Championships at Queen's on Thursday.

He told umpire Fergus Murphy: "Bro you are taking the [expletives], mate. The ball was this far out [gesturing with his hands apart], no joke. No joke. What are you doing? It’s so far long.

"What are you doing? Like, what are you actually doing up there? It was this far out. Bro, it’s taking the [expletive]. I refuse to play.”

Kyrgios also had a go at the linesman claiming he was "rigging the game" before adding "you wonder why I don’t try half the time".

Murphy hit him with a code violation for unsportsmanlike conduct to which Kyrgios said: “It’s a joke, man. It’s a serious joke. Like your hat looks ridiculous, also. It’s not even sunny. You’re a nutter."

The 24-year-old, who spent one changeover between games watching the match between Gilles Simon and Kevin Anderson on the next court, also called himself "lazy" before chiding himself for "playing Fifa till 3am".

“I shouldn't have had the burger and chips,” he added, which explains why one of the most talented tennis players on the planet is ranked as low as No 39 in the world.

This is not the first Kyrgios has got into trouble on court. It certainly is not the first time he has courted trouble at Queen's. Last year, he was fined £13,000 (around Dh60,000) for making suggestive gestures with a water bottle during his semi-final defeat.

Last month, he attracted plenty of derision for criticising world No 1 Novak Djokovic and No 2 Rafael Nadal in an interview.
