ABU DHABI // Saudi Arabia international Salman Al Faraj’s looks set for a move to Arabian Gulf League club Al Jazira, after Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Fahd, his chairman at Al Hilal, tweeted that his transfer was imminent.
Sheikh Abdul Aziz tweeted on Wednesday: “Salman Al Faraj is headed to Al Jazira”, which would seem to confirm speculation surrounding the midfielder’s future in the Saudi Arabian media in recent weeks.
However, when contacted by The National, a Jazira club official said the Abu Dhabi club were yet to decide on any new signings.
Al Faraj, 27, has spent his entire career at Hilal, starting in the youth team in 2004 before graduating to the first team in 2008. He made his debut for Saudi Arabia in 2012 and has 25 appearances for the national team.
Should his move to the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium be confirmed, he will take the place of the South Korean Park Jong-woo, the club’s overseas Asian player, in manager Hen ten Cate’s squad.
Jazira have made one new signing so far this season, the Moroccan international Mubarak Boussoufah.
