Rooney and Nani on the double for Man United

Wolves beaten 4-1 at Old Trafford, while Liverpool and Arsenal both claim narrow victories.

Two goals apiece from Nani and Wayne Rooney saw Manchester United bounce back from their Champions League disappointment with a 4-1 win over Wolves today.

A 2-1 loss to Basel on Wednesday had seen them exit the Champions League at the group stages for the first time since 2005, but they hit back as Nani and Rooney both scored a goal in each half as they moved to within two points of Manchester City at the top. Steven Fletcher netted for Wolves.

Arsenal moved into fourth place as Robin van Persie's goal in the 70th minute proved enough to sink Everton 1-0.

Luis Suarez put a week of controversy behind him, which had seen be charged by the Football Association with improper conduct for an alleged gesture made at Fulham supporters, as he netted the only goal in Liverpool's 1-0 win over Queens Park Rangers at Anfield.

Goals from Marc Albrighton and Stiliyan Petrov fired Aston Villa to a 2-1 win at Bolton Wanderers. Ivan Klasnic got the consolation for Owen Coyle's side, who are now bottom of the table after Wigan Athletic came from behind to win 2-1 at West Bromwich Albion.

Steven Reid had given West Brom the lead, but Victor Moses and a Jordi Gomez penalty gave Wigan the points.

Scott Sinclair and Danny Graham were on target for Swansea City in their 2-0 win over Fulham, while two goals from Demba Ba could not save Newcastle United from defeat as they went down 4-2 at Norwich City.

Grant Holt (2), Wes Hoolahan and Steve Morison struck for Norwich.
