Pro League: Bare on the hunt for a new club

ABU DHABI // Bare, the Brazilian forward, will be part of the Al Jazira squad that flies to Austria on Wednesday for their training camp, despite not having a spot in the Abu Dhabi club's quota of foreign players.

“Bare is still a Jazira player and will travel and train with the team until and unless he gets an offer to play elsewhere,” said Ali Al Nuaimi, the spokesman of the club.

“He has another year left on his contract but we are ready to transfer it should any club come up with a buyout or decent offer, because we would like to see him to play instead of spending his time out of the action.” Bare, 31, who was part of the Pro League title-winning team of 2010/11, has found himself pushed out of the picture by the arrival of compatriot Fernandinho. Ricardo Oliveira and Matias Delgado make up Jazira’s other foreign players.

Subait Khater, Jazira’s experienced midfielder, thinks the team are in good shape for the trip to Austria, despite having had to train in humid conditions while also fasting for Ramadan.

“A summer camp is not new for us but like always it is an important period, firstly to escape from the humid weather, and more importantly to regroup as a team and focus on the new season,” Khater said.

“And as far as the fasting goes, we are all well accustomed to it and I don’t think it hindered the training or it had any negative effect on the friendly tournament we played.

“I think we have done all the hard work to get back in shape. We are now going to fine tune our skills, adapt to new strategies and combinations under our new coach for the season ahead.”

Paulo Bonamigo, the Jazira coach, had the players training last night for one final time before they fly out from Dubai International Airport.

The first part of Jazira’s pre-season preparation culminated with a four-team friendly tournament last weekend at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium in which they finished level on seven points each with Al Qadsia of Kuwait.

“The players showed character to achieve good results and I would like to think they will continue their build up for the new season,” Bonamigo said.

Shin Hyung-min, the South Korean midfielder from Pohang Steelers, signed a two-year contract last week to complete Jazira’s foreign quartet as their Asian player and he has arrived in time for the trip to Europe.

“He has good credentials as our Asian player in the team and I am sure he will quickly adapt to our system during our camp in Austria,” Bonamigo said.

“Our preparation will be based on the combinations and the options available to last for the whole season. I am pretty satisfied with the start we have had. I was able to see all the players and the potential we have in the squad.

“Fernandinho is our new foreign player and he has shown good technical skills during practice and in the friendlies. We will see more of Shin in the second phase of our preparation.”
