Pro League back on February 3

The top competition in domestic football will resume after the Asian Cup has concluded, while Al Ittihad of Saudi Arabia beat Al Jazira 2-0 in a friendly.

Carlo Nohra, the chief executive of the Football League, said Pro League, the top competition in domestic football, would resume on February 3, after the Asian Cup has concluded. He said the semi-finals of the Etisalat Cup could be scheduled to fill the weekend of January 28-29.

Cup kick-offs to be earlier on Saturday

The kick-off times for the three Etisalat Cup matches on Saturday - Kalba v Al Shabab, Sharjah v Al Ahli and Al Jazira v Al Wasl - have been moved forward to 5pm, 5.05pm and 5.10pm so the games will be completed before the start of the UAE national team's Asian Cup match with Iraq, at 8.15pm local time.

Saudi team beat Jazira in friendly

First-half goals from Mohammed al Rashi and Mohammed Salem gave Al Ittihad of Saudi Arabia a 2-0 win over Al Jazira in a friendly watched by the Jeddah side's new Portuguese coach Toni Oliveira at the Mohammed bin Zayed stadium last night. Al Ittihad are second in the Saudi league behind Al Hilal.
