Premier League previews

Manchester United v West Bromwich

Sir Alex Ferguson has said that West Bromwich Albion's victory at Arsenal last month has ensured that his Manchester United side will be on their guard when the two sides meet today.

Roberto Di Matteo's side produced one of the shocks of the season when they won 3-2 at the Emirates Stadium, a feat that impressed Ferguson. "To score three goals there tells you something," said the United manager. "This will be a tough game, make no mistake."

Bolton Wanderers v Stoke City

Johan Elmander's impressive form for Bolton is set to earn him a new contract, Owen Coyle has revealed. The Bolton manager is delighted with the Swedish striker's form this season, which has seen him net four times in the Premier League. He said: "I have had a chat with the chairman and the owner as you do, and when the time is right - which shouldn't be too far away - I'm pretty sure we'll get round to trying to sort something out on that."

Newcastle United v Wigan Athletic

Chris Hughton wants a strong response from his Newcastle side as they look to return to winning ways against Wigan. The Tyneside club lost to Manchester City prior to the international break and the Magpies manager believes how his side react to setbacks is going to be crucial. "We knew we would have defeats this season and it is how you respond and bounce back from those defeats which is going to be a really important aspect of our game."

Wolves v West Ham United

Mick McCarthy has backed his Wolves side to end a run of four defeats and move away from the relegation zone. The second bottom team face basement side West Ham today, and McCarthy said: "It is a huge game. There is no hiding from that but we were in a similar position last season and turned it around. I don't like the position we are in, I don't like the bashing the club is getting, but if we can maintain our belief after losing four games, we will be fine."
