Sheikh Khalid Al Qassimi will be making his 40th World Rally Championship (WRC) start in this weekend's Rally Jordan.
The Emirati driver has a strong chance of scoring points in his BP Abu Dhabi Ford, as he has tasted victory in Jordan before, in the Middle East Rally Championship (MERC), in 2007.
Armed with almost a decade of experience negotiating Jordan's rocky, man-made gravel tracks, Sheikh Khalid has targeted matching the top 10 finish he secured in the 2008 Dead Sea round's maiden WRC foray.
"I have deep knowledge of these stages, always get a good reception from the local fans and have shown speed and form here in the past," Sheikh Khalid said. "In 2008, I was sitting comfortably in seventh when l suffered two punctured tyres in the final stage that took me out of point-scoring contention. I've been awaiting the next WRC opportunity to tackle this familiar terrain ever since."
The constructed Jordan passes are run 420 metres below sea level and pass numerous historical sites, such as the Jordan River, Mount Nebo and the ancient Roman-built city of Jerash.
Sheikh Khalid said that the man-made nature of the course makes it a tough rally to compete in. "These purpose-built tracks lack the natural contours and usual landmarks, so our pace notes have to be extremely accurate to identify the direction of the paths," he said. "We're ready and are eyeing a strong result."
Rally Jordan is the fourth round of the 13-race WRC championship. After three events, Sheikh Khalid has one point in the drivers' championship after his 10th-place finish in the Swedish season-opener.
Ford Abu Dhabi holds a 10-point lead at the top of the manufacturers' standings, while Mikko Hirvonen, the team's lead driver, also heads the drivers' championship on 58 points - level with Citroen's Sebastien Loeb, the seven-time world champion.

Iraq negotiating over Iran sanctions impact
- US sanctions on Iran’s energy industry and exports took effect on Monday, November 5.
- Washington issued formal waivers to eight buyers of Iranian oil, allowing them to continue limited imports. Iraq did not receive a waiver.
- Iraq’s government is cooperating with the US to contain Iranian influence in the country, and increased Iraqi oil production is helping to make up for Iranian crude that sanctions are blocking from markets, US officials say.
- Iraq, the second-biggest producer in the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, pumped last month at a record 4.78 million barrels a day, former Oil Minister Jabbar Al-Luaibi said on Oct. 20. Iraq exported 3.83 million barrels a day last month, according to tanker tracking and data from port agents.
- Iraq has been working to restore production at its northern Kirkuk oil field. Kirkuk could add 200,000 barrels a day of oil to Iraq’s total output, Hook said.
- The country stopped trucking Kirkuk oil to Iran about three weeks ago, in line with U.S. sanctions, according to four people with knowledge of the matter who asked not to be identified because they aren’t allowed to speak to media.
- Oil exports from Iran, OPEC’s third-largest supplier, have slumped since President Donald Trump announced in May that he’d reimpose sanctions. Iran shipped about 1.76 million barrels a day in October out of 3.42 million in total production, data compiled by Bloomberg show.

Types of bank fraud
1) Phishing
Fraudsters send an unsolicited email that appears to be from a financial institution or online retailer. The hoax email requests that you provide sensitive information, often by clicking on to a link leading to a fake website.
2) Smishing
The SMS equivalent of phishing. Fraudsters falsify the telephone number through “text spoofing,” so that it appears to be a genuine text from the bank.
3) Vishing
The telephone equivalent of phishing and smishing. Fraudsters may pose as bank staff, police or government officials. They may persuade the consumer to transfer money or divulge personal information.
4) SIM swap
Fraudsters duplicate the SIM of your mobile number without your knowledge or authorisation, allowing them to conduct financial transactions with your bank.
5) Identity theft
Someone illegally obtains your confidential information, through various ways, such as theft of your wallet, bank and utility bill statements, computer intrusion and social networks.
6) Prize scams
Fraudsters claiming to be authorised representatives from well-known organisations (such as Etisalat, du, Dubai Shopping Festival, Expo2020, Lulu Hypermarket etc) contact victims to tell them they have won a cash prize and request them to share confidential banking details to transfer the prize money.
