Dubai's dominant double act of Nader bin Hendi and Arif al Zafeen stormed to victory in the third and final round of the UIM X-Cat World Series Powerboat Championship yesterday - but were left ruing their early series disaster as Rashid al Marri and Salim al Hamli were crowned world champions.

Bin Hendi and al Zafeen - already the 2010 Class 1 World Champions - led the race at the Dubai International Marine Club from start to finish in Fazza 3 to score their second win in the three-race world series.

But despite winning the most races, they had to settle for second place overall as the world title went to al Marri and al Hamli, the Extreme Marine crew who finished third in yesterday's race.

"We knew even if we won the race we wouldn't win the world title if Extreme Marine finished in a good position," bin Hendi said. "To be honest, scoring zero points in the first race in Abu Dhabi was always likely to cost us the championship."
